Freedom For My People - U2 - Rattle And Hum (Vinyl, LP, Album)

Van Diemens' Land 3. Desire 4. Hawkmoon 5. All Along The Watchtower 6. Freedom For My People 8. Silver And Gold 9. Angel Of Harlem Love Rescue Me When Love Comes To Town Heartland God Part II The Star Spangled Banner Bullet The Blue Sky It is very un-U2 but its great.

It just a bit incongruous in their hands. They are not Bruce Springsteen. I never thought they had a love for Stax or Atlantic soul. The other live tracks are actually pretty convincing - "Helter Skelter" is rousing and gets the blood pumping; despite the criticism from many, I love the gospel version of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"; "Bullet The Blue Sky" is searing and bristles with righteous indignation while "Silver And Gold" is a good, rumbling, bassily evocative rock song, just not the blues.

You can't really criticise them for these cuts, let's be fair. Another great track is the proper rocking blues of their B. The song they wrote with Bob Dylan is slowly appealing but goes on a bit too long. It has a huge, pounding drum sound and is one of their rockiest-ever tracks, despite its somewhat unoriginal derivation. Sure the Edge is not playing the blues, but that's not the point.

Criticising this statement would be akin to saying Ian Gillan was an idiot to say "Turn everything up louder than everything else" So Bono messed up the last verse of All Along The Watchtower, I guess they could have done a studio overdub I saw Rod Stewart mess up the lines to one of his own songs. Nitpicky and unnecessary criticism. The snippets of other artists was supposed to be a reference to the band diving into the Memphis scene and history.

Whether right or wrong, it is hardly blaspheme. I think those snippets made more sense in the movie, and it was a soundtrack after all. Including live tracks that have already been on live albums is hardly unusual. You either like Bono or you don't. Someone stating that Bono is irritating isn't really a criticism of the band or their music Criticism of the artists used on the album would seem to be folks not understanding the basic idea behind the album, and more than likely just a dislike for the band.

Many many artists have had large amounts of special guests on their albums, and never get the blink of an eye. Do we decide, based on this, that everything Steely Dan did was pretentious twaddle, because they had a barrage of special guests on their albums?

Is Aja a classic album or grandstanding because of the multitude of famous artists on the album? EwaWoowa , mattright , Max Florian and 15 others like this. Location: USA. Location: UK. 5. When I started collecting vinyl again in my 40s, "Rattle and Hum" was at the very top of my want list. I searched my local record stores, but I couldn't find a copy locally. I saw that Amazon had it for a decent price, so I ordered it. The album arrived in new condition as promised and sounds great. If you are a U2 fan, this album is a MUST HAVE/5().
